We’ve been in Arizona for months now, and it’s been lovely. The weather’s kind, the days stretch out in golden light, and we’ve met some wonderful people. Al played softball and loved the camaraderie that comes with a good team—Softball America would be proud. I found myself enjoying long conversations with the wives, swapping stories and laughter along the sidelines.
Pickleball became our other pastime. If you’ve never tried it, USA Pickleball is a great place to learn more. It’s an easy game to pick up and full of friendly competition.
The house down here is a sweet little place—small, easy to keep, and cozy in its own right. We decorated it much like our home at the ranch, so it feels familiar and warm.
But it’s not home.
There’s something missing—something the desert sunshine can’t quite replace. It’s peaceful here, but it still feels like a long vacation. A place to rest, to breathe, and to enjoy for a season.
And then, as always, it’s time to head home. Home to the Fish & Cross Ranch. Tucked away in Colorado’s Yampa Valley. Where the mountains meet the sky and life moves at the pace of the land. The place where family resides. Where grandchildren run and ride. A place for hugs, cookies, and lots of love.
